Der hasenfige Zahnarzt Peter "Painless" Potter zieht mit seinem Wagen quer durchs Land, als er die toughe "Calamity Jane" kennen lernt. Die ist als Undercover-Agentin unterwegs und gibt den schchternen Tollpatsch kurzerhand zur Tarnung als ihren Ehemann aus. Potter findet sich pltzlich in den gefhrlichsten Situationen wieder - doch fr Jane berwindet er seine Angst und mausert sich zum Helden ...

Hier ist endlich mal wieder einer von den Filmen veröffenlicht worden, über die sich auch bereits meine Eltern kaputt lachen konnten. Ähnlich wie "Der Hofnarr" handelt es sich um ein Highlight eines der besten Komiker, der im Film sein Talent beweisen konnten.
Alleine schon die Tasache, dass die damalige Sexbombe Jane Russell mit Bobe Hope diesen Film zusammen gedreht hat, war genial. Der "Hasenfuß" wird im Film dann langsam zum Helden und ermöglicht ein Happy-End.
Diverse Szenen (z.B. "Lachgas") können mich/uns immer wieder belustigen. Da man nun auch die Möglichkeit hat, den Film im englischen Ton zu hören, hat man einen gewissen Mehrwert. Leider enthält die DVD keine weiteren Extras. Für den tollen Film 5 Punkte, ein Punkt Abzug für fehlende Extras. |

A combination like this deserves at least 1 viewing 4 von 5 Punkten
(I hope the readers here understand English.) Unhappily, this movie is only available, to the best of my knowledge, on German video. It is known that Bob Hope disliked the film to the extent that he would not allow it to be realeased in the United States. The film runs along the same lines as the American classic, "Ninothcka," starring Greta Garbo, though I doubt that one would say that this film approaches "Ninothcka" in quality. The wonderful aspect to this film is, of course, the very odd teaming of Hepburn and Hope. I do not believe that a fan of American Cinema can help but be a little curious. Enjoy. |

Lesser "Road" Film Still Funny 3 von 5 Punkten
The sixth "Road" film in the series of seven, and the only one to be filmed in color, "The Road to Bali," made in 1952 has an aged, dated feel that none of the other "Road" films which preceeded it have. In it, Bing and Bob, who are working their Vaudeville act in Austrailia, find that they must leave in a hurry to avoid marriying a local with whim both had had a fling. When they stumble their way onto a local island, they meet Princess Dorothy Lamour and her evil cousin. Hope and Crosby then do some Deep Sea Diving to find some elusive treasure. Along the way, they get rid of the bad guys, sing a few songs, and, of course, one of them get Dottie. The film is bland and the print from which the video is made is a little sketchy in spots, but if you are a fan of these films and have not yet seen this one, you might as well go ahead. |
