tre borsisti vengono allontanati per scarso rendimento dall'universita' di new york. si occupano di problemi del paranormale. accade cosi' che peter venkman, raymond stantz ed egon spengler abbiano la bella pensata di mettersi in proprio, costituendo una vera e ben attrezzata agenzia di . . . disinfestazione: cio' perche', a quanto risulta, fenomeni assai inquietanti e stranissime "presenze ectoplasmiche" cominciano a manifestarsi in citta'. prima cliente dei 3 amici e' dana barrett che, tornando un giorno a casa, ha visto scoppiare in cucina sei uova una dopo l'altra e, quel che e' peggio, ha scoperto un mostro dentro il frigorifero. e, occupandosi di lei, venkman se ne innamora. intanto, la fama corre e i simpatici soci sono chiamati dappertutto, presso privati, alberghi e residenze, infestati da fantasmi verdastri e repellenti, come da bizzarri eventi. loro arrivano tutti equipaggiati come derattizzatori, a bordo della loro auto targata "ecto 1-new york", e incapsulano in una ingegnosa trappola portatile le maligne turbolenze: che finiscono poi tutte all'ammasso in un "deposito delle forze energetiche", appositamente costruito. intanto accertano che un grande edificio cittadino (quello in cui alloggia dana, nonche' louis, un curioso e querulo ometto che spasima per lei) costituisce il preoccupante polo di attrazione dei fantasmi locali, sempre piu' scatenati e voraci: pare che sul luogo, migliaia di anni fa, risiedesse il dio di un misterioso culto ittita. nel frattempo, l'agenzia e' presa di mira da uno zelante funzionario del servizio ecologico il quale, ottenuto finalmente un mandato di requisizione contro i tre presunti imbroglioni, fa staccare la corrente nei locali e dalle apparecchiature. purtroppo, una tale azione fa "saltare" il deposito; ogni fantasma, ogni forza energetica si libera e sulla citta' tornano ad imperversare incredibili ed allarmanti fantasmi.

Much less fun than its predecessor, this 1989 sequel starts off on a bleak note by telling us our heroes from Ghostbusters have been on the skids for five years and Bill Murray's lead character never did hook up with Sigourney Weaver's lovely symphony-musician character. What's more, she has a kid by somebody else. Everybody's on an uphill climb, and Ghostbusters I I never soars the way the first film did, despite having the same director, Ivan Reitman ( Dave, Kindergarten Cop). The lame plot finds the boys attempting to prevent a disaster on New York City caused by too many bad vibes in the Big Apple. Yikes! Fortunately, screenwriters Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis have penned enough good one-liners to keep Murray busy, and if the ghostly special effects no longer surprise as they did in Ghostbusters, they're at least inventive. - Tom Keogh, Amazon. com

abby ed erin sono una coppia di scrittrici semi sconosciute che decidono di pubblicare un libro sui fantasmi. la loro tesi consiste nell'affermare che questi sono assolutamente reali. tempo dopo erin ottiene un prestigioso incarico come docente della columbia university. quando il libro sugli spettri, ormai dimenticato, ricompare, diventera' lo zimbello della facolta' e sara' costretta a lasciare il lavoro. la sua credibilita' e' persa ed erin decide a quel punto di riunirsi ad abby aprendo una ditta di acchiappafantasmi. scelta che si rivela vincente: manhattan e' invasa da una nuova ondata di spettri e non ci sara' altro da fare per il team che dargli la caccia.
