The first two albums of the German Folk Rock Legend on one C D for the very first time!
E L S T E R S I L B E R F L U G exists since 1971 and was founded by Ulrich Freise, Hartmut Hoffmann and Thomas Ziebarth. Equipped with guitar, mandolin and an assortment of flutes they arose to hitchhike to India. In the pocket - a book with German folk songs. None of the usual collections but songs, selected by the originality of the melodies. The collection moves into a period of about 800 years, from the early Middle Ages to the Romantic (1).
The three hitchhikers reached India and returned almost a year later with those same songs in the repertoire to Germany. E L S T E R S I L B E R F L U G was born.
Barbara Grosse, vocals and percussion, Lutz Berger, violin and Diethard Hess, bass guitar and flutes) joined the band and this new set up went in the streets and squares to make music. The headquarter of the group was Heidelberg.
After almost a year, E L S T E R S I L B E R F L U G was so well known that they gave concerts throughout Germany, played musical theater, and appeared on the radio and on television.
On the great German folk festivals in the Seventies , the band played with other collegues like O U G E N W E I D E , Z U P F G E I G E N H A N S E L.
A kind folk revival with German folklore began, there were folk tours, festivals and concerts and even local vending. A busy time, 1970 - 1980 approximately.
Kaarel Siniveer, author of Rowolth folk lexicon, described 1981 Elster Silberflug as "one of the main stops on the way to the revival of German folk music. "
Two albums published the E L S T E R N in the seventies, which are now published by Sireena Records in first full-length on one C D:
